You double-fault... How to Bounce Back After a Double Fault?

We all know that feeling.

You hit a double fault… and suddenly your serve no longer feels reliable. You get tight. You start doubting. You stop trusting your motion.

And then what happens?

You start changing things. Adjusting the toss.Slowing the swing.Guiding the ball instead of swinging freely.

But here’s the truth:

Mid-match technical changes usually make it worse.

They mess up your timing, your rhythm, and your confidence.

Instead, after a double fault, focus on this:

Pause Before the Next Serve

  • Take a moment.

  • Step back. Take one deep breath.

  • Reset your mind before you reset your body.

Release the Tension

  • Relax your shoulders.

  • Soften your grip.

  • Tension is the enemy of rhythm.

Choose a Clear Target (this one is my favorite)

  • Pick a specific spot in the service box.

  • Not just “in.”A real target.

  • Give your brain direction.

Commit Fully

  • No adjusting your toss.

  • No slowing down.

  • Trust your motion.
